The Story of Amrit Niwala

Two years ago, we began a journey with one simple yet powerful belief: No one should go to bed hungry.

 

Amidst the daily hustle of life, we witnessed a harsh reality—thousands of people, including children, elderly, and laborers, sleeping on empty stomachs simply because they couldn’t afford a meal. This stark truth moved us to act. We felt that something had to be done—not as a grand gesture, but as a little step towards a better tomorrow. And that’s how Little Steps Foundation came into existence, with Amrit Niwala being our first and most heartfelt initiative

The name Amrit Niwala reflects exactly what we stand for—a bite of nourishment that is pure, fulfilling, and offered with love. We started by serving nutritious, unlimited meals at just ₹10—a small token amount that encourages dignity and respect for the food. While the real cost of each plate is over ₹100, currently our Founder and the actual soul behind Amrit Niwala Mr Hans Raj Agarwal has been bearing that expense solely but with the help of kind-hearted donors and volunteers, we can expand this and achieve the goal where no one has to compromise on hunger.

From feeding around 1,000 people daily in the beginning, today we proudly serve 2,000 to 2,500 people every single day. And our kitchen has the capacity to serve over 5,000 people daily. Our meals are unlimited—because hunger doesn’t come with a portion size. And while we currently serve lunch, we are working towards offering dinner as well, with your support.
